Since 1975, The Sweet Expression from Austin, Tx have been encouraging Christians in their daily walk God through their unique style of A Cappella music. The thirteen singers come from several churches of Christ in the Austin area. They have sung in churches, convention centers, retirement centers and homes, for hundreds or just one special person, mainly in Central Texas but have sung all over Texas and even the Caribbean.
The founder envisioned a singing group composed of Christians of all ages from the Austin area that would present programs to Christian people and help them appreciate the blessings of being in the family of God. From that, The Sweet Expressions were born. Today, the group is still presenting programs wherever they are invited. Encouraging God’s children in their daily walk with God remains their theme.
Over the years the directors have changed. Singers have come and blessed us with their wonderful Christian attitudes and voices and have left after singing for months or even years in the group. Songs and programs have changed, but the group still endeavors to continue its charter. Not many volunteer organizations of this kind survive ten years, much less twenty or more.
The Sweet Expressions present most of their concerts for churches of Christ within a couple hours drive from Austin but have had the pleasure of singing for many different groups and occasions over the years including the following:
Church and Synagogue Library Association Conference / The San Marcos Performing Arts Association Summer in the Park Series / Saturday Night Showcase at The Mountain in Canton, Tx / Trinidad and Tobago Campaign / Wimberley Gospel Music Festival / Houston Acappella Music Festival at J. R. Brown Convention Center/ Christ Fest at Ward Memorial Methodist in Austin / Texas State Acappella Singing / several prison units / Round Rock 7th Day Adventist / children homes / and many others.
Our desire is to express the joy in being God's children, to show gratitude for His grace, to encourage others as they walk the Christian life and to inspire hope in those who have not started the journey. The songs in their programs have been selected for both their musical beauty and lyric content. Some of the songs you may have never heard, so the message in them will be fresh.
