About Us The Paperless Hymnal® exist for the sole purpose of promoting better congregational singing. When computer and projection technology became available to churches in the mid 1990's, there wasn't a good way to made slides that displayed both lyrics and music. Displaying only the lyrics was easy using software that was readily available. Since that time, this methodology has become the norm for high tech churches. For members of the audience who do not read music, this caused no problem. For members of the audience who do read music, it has been a cause of frustration. Without the music for their voice part, they usually have set aside their music training and just follow along. The Paperless Hymnal® solves the problem by displaying both the lyrics and the music just as a song book shows both the lyrics and music. Since 1999, we have been furnishing churches with song slides and have a user base of hundreds of churches. Most are congregations who sing a capella (without instruments) and therefore rely on their members to fill in all the voice parts. Those churches also use song books printed in shaped notes. People outside this tradition know nothing about shaped notes and many claim them distracting. Over the years, we have had an increasing number of inquiries for our product in round notes. For this reason, we have converted our material to conventional notation. We will continue to sell the shaped note version along with the conventional note version.
